Qualifications

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Possess/maintain a NH State Journeyman Plumber's License.

Possess/maintain NH State Approved Gas and Oil Burner Certification such as CETP or NATE.

Possess/maintain a valid state driver's license. A current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.

Five years of experience as a journey-level plumber/fitter in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting; and five years as a certified gas and oil burner technician with commercial experience.

Good communication and people skills.

Able to respond to District need on an "on call" basis, after school hours and on weekends, especially during the winter heating season.

Maintain appearance and conduct suitable for working with students, other district staff and the public.

Ability to run a laptop or IPAD for daily use.

Ability to complete the following trainings as required: forklift operation certification, lock out tag out, fall arrest, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, OSHA and respirator training.

Supervises:

Part-time or temporary employees as may be assigned. Other supervision may be required as determined and assigned by the Facilities Director.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Regional Educational Support Personnel Association.

Job Goal The HVAC Technician/Plumber will be responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing and regularly maintaining the heating, ventilation and plumbing systems and equipment of the Fall Mountain Regional School District buildings and sites to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Plumber must work closely with the staff and administration of the District.

Essential Job Functions

Inspect, repair, maintain and test plumbing, heating, cooling and other process piping systems; clear plugged waste lines.

Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.

Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.

Remove and replace or install all types of plumbing fixtures such as water closets, sinks, drinking fountains, showers, kitchen, laboratory and other equipment.

Maintain and repair piping tanks and pressure vessels for fuels, steam, water, air, gas and draining systems; install, service, repair and adjust pumps, valves, dishwashers, heat exchangers and coils.

Construct various types of pipe joints for high or low pressure systems, including threading, brazing, soldering, welding or leadpiping of joints.

Cut, fit, fabricate and assemble a wide variety of articles, materials and devices including steel, copper, brass, glass, plastic, cast iron, corrosion resistant pipe, tile, concrete and transite.

Read and interpret plans, blueprints and sketches, construct, lay out or plan piping assemblies with respect to walls, structures and other obstructions, allowing for expansion, contraction and alignment in accordance with pipefitting practice.

Order materials and supplies as required; may perform work in other trades; insulate pipes and equipment; may be required to operate boilers.

Provide assistance with any emergency repairs during and after school hours.

Receive and complete work orders via an electronic system including submission of accurate records of work accomplished, including time and materials consumed in the job.

Maintain the shop and equipment assigned in a safe and orderly condition.

Perform other duties as requested or required.

Physical Demands Required to stand for prolonged periods; required to lift, move or carry objects weighing fifty (50) or more pounds; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases; required to take precautions to avoid exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and materials, fumes, flames and hot surfaces; required to operate a motor vehicle between sites; required to crouch, crawl, bend or work in other non‑routine positions. Manual dexterity required.
