About The Position Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an Operations Technician for its LaPorte, TX facility. Our liquid hydrogen unit was commissioned in 2021 to better serve existing customers and expand capacity to meet the needs of new customers. The Air Products La Porte, TX site also includes an ASU and a HyCO facility.

Responsibilities
Follow Site Work Instruction Manual and Job Safety Analysis procedures
Maintain an electronic logbook of LHY unit operational activities
Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends in conjunction with console operator
Calibrate/Operate multiple analyzers
Maintain online training program requirements
Issue safety work permits and perform lock out / tag out of various process equipment
Fill trailers
Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions. Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition
Ensure that all plant safety, environmental and quality procedures are followed
Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings
Perform troubleshooting on equipment and preventative maintenance tasks
Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required
Operate unit equipment via DCS
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Process Technology certificate or degree a plus)
Experience in operations or military background preferred
Electrical, instrument, or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
Valid, clean driver’s license
Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation drawings
Familiarity with personal computers and/or DCS systems
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Strong collaboration skills
Physical Requirements
Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50lbs
Meet call-in/on call requirements as needed
Elevated work required
Work in all weather conditions
