L4 Data Center Technician – A Side Day

Shift & Location A – Side Day Shift – Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, & every other Wednesday 6 a.m.–6 p.m. (on-site in Mt. Pleasant, WI)
Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The technician will be responsible for the break‑fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management via ITSM. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience deploying fully populated GPU or network racks within a data‑center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot‑air containment, and overhead cable containment trays. They must be able to interpret BOMs, manage Ethernet cabling technologies (copper, fiber – SM, MM, MPO, routing, dressing, connectors), and troubleshoot a variety of servers and servers.
Responsibilities
Perform tasks listed under Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 as needed.
Move, inspect, install, and cable servers and switches according to wire maps.
Audit servers and consumables and troubleshoot hardware issues.
Order, install, and ship replacement parts, and update firmware.
Configure IP addresses, default credentials, and ITSM tickets.
Assist network admins with cable issues, optics, and swaps.
Deploy and configure GPUs, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
Manage multiple simultaneous projects, prioritize workload, and report status.
Ensure compliance with safety measures and data‑center standards.
Lead and manage teams effectively and provide daily communication and documentation.
Travel as required and operate in a Microsoft data‑center environment.
Work with DC power and DC‑powered equipment and maintain operational readiness.
Requirements
10+ years of deployment and/or break‑fix experience in a data center.
Extensive experience with landing fully populated GPU or network racks.
Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies (copper, fiber – SM, MM, MPO, routing, dressing, connectors).
Experience with optical modules (SFPs, QSFP) and fiber scoping/cleaning (SC, LC, MPO).
Experience with patching fiber and copper cables and racking/stacking equipment.
Proven experience in leading teams.
Willingness to travel as required.
Experience with DC power and DC‑powered equipment.
Strong communication skills and ability to document progress using customer‑tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.
Experience working in a Microsoft data‑center environment.
Familiarity with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise‑level data centers.
Preferred Certifications / Experience
CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.
CCENT or equivalent experience.
Windows OS experience.
CCNA certification preferred.
MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
Skills Data center deployment, fiber optic cable, cabling, rack and stack, troubleshooting, Cat6, Cat5, GPU.
