Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities Develop highly reliable flight software, ranging from low level control to autonomous system behaviors for RTOS and/or bare-metal environments Develop supporting test, validation, and simulation software infrastructure Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, from requirements definition and design to deployment and maintenance in orbit Work closely with software, hardware and systems engineers to support design, build, integration, test, and deployment of high speed optical communication systems A day in the life As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of the Optical Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on the design, implementation, and verification of software systems to control and monitor high-speed optical communications. You will identify top-level requirements and pursue high quality, innovative designs while supporting colleagues with improving embedded system designs. About The Team We are looking for a software engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to execute quickly and effectively. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and collaborate closely with optical, electrical, firmware, and opto-mechanical development teams. Be comfortable with ambiguity and solving problems at scale. You’ll learn, have fun, and make a positive impact on hundreds of millions of people. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience programming with at least one software programming language Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems Experience in embedded development in C/C++/Rust/assembly and scripting development in Python Equal Opportunity Statement Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
