Job Title: Phlebotomist - KearnyJob Description We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team, where you will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of specimen collection and handling. Responsibilities

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections to patients.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understand and execute physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department training sessions.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in blood drawing and phlebotomy.
  • Experience with straight needle techniques; butterfly needle use is rare.
  • Ability to process samples using a centrifuge.
  • At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience, preferably in a high-volume patient service center or oncology center.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • GED or high school diploma required.
  • OBGYN experience is strongly preferred.
Work Environment Work hours are Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 12 AM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM. This role provides an opportunity to work within smaller in-office doctor settings or patient service centers, offering exposure to various work environments within a larger organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kearny, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
