Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager – Care, this Staff Software Engineer will be a full‑time role instrumental in creating and guiding the team. You will be responsible for building a unified set of AI‑powered servicing tools that automate toilsome work. You will be a technical leader involved in driving strategic architecture decisions, a champion of technical initiatives, and a mentor to the junior engineers. You will work closely with our Product and Engineering leadership to prioritize and execute on deliverables, as part of a collaborative team identifying opportunities and creating products that transform mental healthcare.
Hybrid role based in San Francisco; expected to be in office 2–3 days a week at 2 Embarcadero Ctr.
What You Will Be Doing
Act as a key partner to both Product and Engineering leaders, ensuring we build the right things in the right ways.
Take on complex requirements and distill them into proposals of small deliverables.
Manage project priorities, deadlines, deliverables, and stakeholders.
Create opportunities for process improvements.
Mentor others to raise the level of quality in everything we produce.
Quickly pivot solutions based on feedback or complexity, communicating reasons for changes and the path forward.
Manage risks, dependencies, and trade‑offs inherent in complex project delivery.

What We Expect From You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
12+ years of experience as an engineer or technologist, with a proven track record of delivering successful products in or adjacent to the healthcare industry, and 2+ years in a leadership capacity.
3+ years of experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Flutter.
3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails and AWS.
2+ years of experience with modern AI technologies.
Hands‑on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
Exceptional communication skills, able to explain technical decisions to non‑technical stakeholders.
Ability to navigate ambiguity with a bias toward rapid execution over process.
Experience working in an early‑stage startup environment; comfortable with a high‑growth, dynamic 0–1 environment.
Ability to identify and prevent decisions that are not “two‑way door decisions.”
The target base salary range for this position is $179,000 – $240,405, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by experience, location, internal pay equity, and other factors. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database to ensure competitive and fair pay.
