Job Summary: Position is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, ensuring medical necessity compliance, verifying eligibility, and posting payments.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting

Ability to multi-task

Proficient typing/keyboarding skills

Principal Accountabilities

Schedules patient appointments and enters required information in the computer system accurately and timely.

Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor and enters information with a high degree of accuracy.

Explains required forms, obtains signatures.

Ensures medical necessity compliance by collecting necessary data, reviewing the Compliance System, communicating, and obtaining signatures.

Protects financial integrity by collecting liability, establishing payment arrangements, discussing payment options and screening eligibility.

Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and ensures all notifications and authorizations are completed within required timeframes.

Posts payments in the computer system and generates appropriate patient receipts.

Monitors, reviews and resolves patient account issues on assigned reports.

Communicates effectively and professionally with physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, physicians’ office staff, insurance companies, patients and families; completes thorough and accurate documentation.

Ensures safe care, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, standards, and budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, and service productivity.

Promotes professional growth by meeting mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supporting department goals; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

Demonstrates commitment to caring for community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences; models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences.

Other duties as assigned.
