Dental Hygienist
Reports To:
Dental Hygiene Manager
Role performed at GraceMed Health Clinic, Inc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patients; perform patient education, discharge planning, and family teaching under supervision of a qualified dentist or provider.
Assess dental condition and needs of patients using screening procedures.
Deliver direct patient care as assigned, performing routine treatment procedures: cleaning, polishing, x‑rays, application of sealants and fluorides, and related procedures.
Document dental history, records, and observations; ensure follow‑up on lab results.
Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during patient treatment.
Maintain sterility by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and instruments; maintain clinical supplies.
Assist in patient care area preparation, admission, transfer, discharge, and office duties (telephone calls, triage, etc.).
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Assist in development and documentation of protocols related to job functions.
Working Conditions:
Dental office environment: Must sit/stand for long periods; bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.
Interaction with physicians, patients, and other office personnel; may involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons.
Potential exposure to blood and body fluids; must have visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity for computer interface.
