Position Overview
Position: Vegetation Management Planner (Entry Level)
Location: TBD in Kentucky (Cumberland and surrounding areas)
Start Date: January/February 2026
Pay: $21–$27 per hour, 40 hours/week
Travel: Up to 25% within the state of Kentucky
Responsibilities
Contribute to vegetation management planning and analysis.
Use innovative technologies to support utility providers in maintaining power reliability.
Inspect and assess vegetation along right‑of‑ways for compliance with safety standards.
Recommend tree and brush control actions and protection zones.
Collect data using hand‑held computers, assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, and support Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) projects.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.
Qualifications
Love of the outdoors and ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
Ability to read GIS data and maps; work independently.
Leadership experience preferred; strong desire for career growth.
Demonstrated problem‑solving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability to travel within the utility service area.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a 4×4 vehicle.
Knowledge of local tree species and growth rates.
Organizational skills; computer proficiency (file creation, manipulation, sharing).
Preferred : Utility right‑of‑way vegetation experience or tree crew foreman experience.
Preferred : ISA certification or ISA Utility Specialist designation.
