Senior Accountant – High Net Worth Family Office, Reporting to Controller

Overview A prominent high-net-worth family office based in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its close-knit, high-performing finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment that includes complex entities, aviation operations, leasing activity, and multi-entity reporting. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, enhancing existing processes, and supporting strategic initiatives across the family’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Month-End Responsibilities
Prepare and record timely, accurate journal entries across multiple entities.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper classification, documentation, and audit readiness.
Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
Aviation & Leasing Accounting
Handle specialized accounting for aviation operations, including aircraft-related expenses, cost allocations, utilization tracking, and compliance with aviation-specific reporting requirements.
Manage accounting for leasing activities, including lease schedules, payment tracking, amortization, and compliance with ASC lease accounting guidelines.
Coordinate with operations, legal, and external partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting for aviation and leasing entities.
Prepare internal financial statements, management reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
Assist with consolidated reporting across multiple entities and investments.
Support external tax and audit partners by providing well-organized, accurate workpapers and documentation.
Process Improvement & Operations Support
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
Implement improved workflows, templates, and documentation practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Support ad hoc projects, including new system implementations, automation efforts, and reporting enhancements.
Provide financial insights and support decision-making for family office leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
3–6+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a family office, private company, aviation environment, real estate/leasing, or public accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP and multi-entity accounting.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
High degree of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
