Job Overview
As a
Data Center Technician II , you will work closely with Data Center Leads to install, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and cabling. This role requires advanced technical proficiency, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting critical data center operations.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute the
ticket management process
with accuracy and efficiency.
Apply advanced
diagnostic methods
to troubleshoot and resolve complex data center equipment issues.
Accurately
pull and manage inventory
according to established processes and update inventory systems promptly.
Perform server repairs, including replacing hard drives, RAM, motherboards, and other components.
Physically assist with
moving and racking equipment
for projects and operational needs.
We are Hardware/Component replacement focused with the possibility of delving into software in the future
Lead or support
special projects
with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion.
Assist with training
new hires and working with our Global Training Team
Carry out Lead responsibilities when the Data Center Lead is out of office or engaged on other projects , ensuring continuity of operations and team coordination.
Identify and elevate recurring issues or risks to management proactively.
Maintain compliance with safety standards and operational best practices.
Perform additional tasks as directed by management to support data center reliability and efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
High School Diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
A
Real ID
or other federally accepted identification for U.S. travel.
Minimum
2 years of experience
in data center operations or computer hardware repair.
Strong hands-on experience with
computer hardware diagnostics and repair .
Ability to travel to supported data center locations.
Proficiency in learning and adapting to new software tools quickly.
Excellent
professional communication skills , both verbal and written.
Ability to
multi-task , prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable wearing
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
for extended periods.
Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and move at least
50 pounds .
Capable of walking long distances throughout the day.
Willingness to work in environments that may include
hot aisles
and indoor areas reaching
90+ degrees Fahrenheit
during certain times of the year.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or currently pursuing one.
Experience with Data Center industry best practices.
Familiarity with
inventory management systems
and data center operational workflows.
Demonstrated ability to
mentor junior technicians
and contribute to team development.
