Qualifications
Live a life in accordance to the Word (Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)
Be sure you are being fed, strengthened, and encouraged.
Devout much time in the Word, prayer and fasting
Assist the Pastor in assessing, shaping, developing and communicating the mission and vision of the church to the church body and the community.
Be willing and available to work up to 24 hours per week. Avg. weekly time: 20 hours
Ministry Oversight
Be willing to oversee either the Worship Teams or Family Ministries
Work with the Pastor in Men’s Ministry
Provide Elder guidance and instruction
Oversee or lead a small group when they are instituted/available
Assist the Pastor in developing, and delivering a Foundations Course for new believers/new members
Make hospital or shut-in visits when necessary
Weekly Responsibilities
Work with the Pastor on developing a robust discipleship program
Regularly encourage & challenge the body members to use their spiritual gifts, talents and resources for the Lord.
Lead and participate in Wednesday Family Night teaching & fellowship
Be committed to regularly attending Sunday morning services @ least 90%
Regularly visit those within the church body (regular attendees & members)
Monthly Responsibilities
Regularly attend monthly Elder meeting; provide monthly report of activities
Attend any critical or emergency Elder or full Council meetings
Be the liaison between the Deacon board & Elder Board – oversee the Deacon Board meeting (monthly)
Be willing and available to cover and address any emergency needs when Pastor has his monthly day of prayer & planning and vacation days.
Attend special events as they come up (e.g. Soup Supper, Carnival, etc.)
Annual Responsibilities
Share at Annual Congregation Meeting – ministry report, budget, etc.
Prayerfully pursue and be an advocate for new Council Board members, both Deacons & Elders
Fill the pulpit when needed - Be available to preach 8 to 12 times a year
On an alternating basis with Pastor – lead a new members class (offered usually 3 to 4 times a year)
