Compelled by the love of the Triune God, the Director of Youth & Their Families will prayerfully curate experiences, and programs for youth to follow Jesus, build spiritual friendships, and love others as themselves. The Director of Youth & Their Families will prayerfully rely on the Holy Spirit and work with the Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts to help youth develop personal and communal relationships with God, spiritual friendships, intercultural and intergenerational community, growth in Christlikeness, and missional engagement and action in our world.
Job Duties Disciple Youth
Disciple youth weekly in mentorship meeting
Pray for, listen to, and care for the souls of youth, youth mentors, and families
Teach and exemplify prayer for youth
Help youth discern the Holy Spirit's guidance, their gifting, and present them with opportunities to exercise their faith in Jesus
Help youth connect with Village Church and Global expression of the body of
Prepare for meetings with youth before, follow up afterward
Attend our youth's sporting events, performances, etc.
Mentor 2-3 youth per week
Equip youth mentors to mentor youth
Lead Youth Council
In cooperation with the Village Council and Pastor of Intergenerational Ministries & the Arts, the Director will lead monthly prayer, spiritual direction, and planning meetings with the Youth Council. These meetings foster space for our Youth Council team to lead ministry, help plan events, and designate responsibilities to facilitate a Spirit-led, youth-led Youth Ministry.
Pastor Youth Group - Wednesdays
Organize details
Along with the Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts, the Director of Youth & Their Families will coordinate volunteers to be youth mentors, set up/tear down, provide snacks, help youth give announcements, run activities, and lead worship
Coordinate Youth Council members for announcements, worship team, games, prayer, and testimonies
Facilitate Wednesday night youth group
Facilitate Middle School Groups while the Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts facilitates High School Groups
Lead weekly youth mentors prayer meeting before Youth Groups
Lead a small group
During the week: check in with your group, pray for them by name, prepare questions and ideas; occasionally meeting up with your group for discipleship & fun
During Group, lead youth in sharing life together, praying together, and mutual invitation discussion
Teach God's Word for youth in a contextualized and interactive way, incorporating global Christian theology, tactile/creative lessons, missional applications, and maturing hermeneutics.
Pastor Youth Church - Sundays
Plan and Facilitate Youth Church with youth mentors and Youth Council
Lead teams of adults and youth to facilitate an engaging worshipful service for youth.
Organize preaching themes, schedule, and diverse team of preachers
Preach 1-2 times a month in youth church
Train gifted & passionate youth to preach
Coordinate pastors & mentors to teach/preach
Facilitate youth worship teams, led by youth
Instruct and manage youth mentors to facilitate small groups.
Youth Mentors
Meet with, lead, and spiritually care for youth mentors (committed, volunteer adults who lead youth ministry)
Organize Planning Center
Schedule Youth Mentors for Group & Church
Coordinate youth worship team & youth council roles
Organize and co-lead mentors meetings and annual youth mentors retreat
Pastoral Parents
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry and the Arts, provide spiritual care and direction for families
Communicate with families via weekly email, social media, and website updates
Plan and facilitate bi-monthly Pastoral Parents meetings for prayer, teaching, and support
Vision, Mission, & Experiences
Prayerfully discern where God's Spirit is guiding our youth & ministry
Meet weekly with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts to plan, organize, pray for youth, and check-in
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts, implement teaching plan
Together with Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry & the Arts, develop experiences
Plan, facilitate, and attend all youth experiences, including mission camps, retreats, and short-term mission trips
Attend weekly pastors & directors staff meetings
Continue youth ministry education to stay up to date e.g. books, seminars, conferences, etc.
Perform standard pastoral duties of a spiritual leader and shepherd as needed, including but not limited to preaching or teaching, conducting services, and performing sacraments or rites.
Be available to assume any role assignment directed by supervisor as need arises.
Ministry & Job Specific Qualifications
Ability to communicate and coordinate volunteers across cultures and generations
Minimum education requirement: Demonstrated biblical and theological knowledge through Completion of a broad sequence of systematic theology and biblical survey from an accredited theological institution (MA in Theology/Ministry or MDiv preferred) or a demonstration of equivalent experience or competency and at least 4 years of experience
At least 2 years of experience of ministry with youth Intercultural education, training, competency, and experience
Experience collaborating and leading a church ministry team
Understanding of strategic planning and experience in establishing goals, objectives, and tasks
Experience in conducting youth-focused events & activities
Experience in presenting, preaching, and teaching
General Personal & Spiritual Qualifications for All Staff at Village Church
Profess personal faith in Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual growth and passion for God
Model the biblical qualifications of an elder. (1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-3)
Model biblical integrity in all things. (Titus 2:7-8)
Model biblical leadership as an equipper. (Eph 4:11-13)
Model biblical community in relationships as described in the “one another” commands in Scripture.

Support a multi-staff and multi-cultural team ministry.
