Wind Turbine Technician – Hackberry Windfarm (Albany, TX)

A local Wind Service Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs. They also contribute to overall safety and efficiency by following safety protocols, maintaining records, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Routine Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance checks, inspections, and lubrication on wind turbine components.
Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with wind turbines.
Safety: Ensuring all work activities are performed safely, adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and providing safety training.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and performance data.
Tower Climbing: Climbing the towers to inspect, diagnose, and repair components; requires specialized climbing skills and equipment.
Component Replacement: Replacing or repairing worn-out or damaged wind turbine components.
What You Bring
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. An associate's degree in a related field is a plus. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge: Background in wind turbine maintenance or power generation preferred but not required. Understanding of safety protocols and LOTO procedures.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems; ability to troubleshoot and repair complex technical issues.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Physical Fitness: Ability to climb wind turbine towers and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions; must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by OSHA safety regulations.
Driver’s License: Valid driver's license required; selected candidates will be subject to a DMV check.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
