The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for performing, analyzing, and releasing laboratory tests on specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results by adhering to established policies and procedures. Working under direct supervision, this role troubleshoots and maintains complex instrumentation, prioritizes workload to meet turnaround times, and stays updated on competencies and regulatory standards. The role plays a crucial part in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information that supports patient care and treatment decisions.

Shift options include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, 7 on 7 off, Weekend Option (WEO), and weekday schedules, available on full‑time, part‑time, and PRN schedules.
Responsibilities
Perform all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Conduct quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
Maintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.
Prioritize duties and manage workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.
Stay updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures.
Practice efficient use of supplies and actively participate in inventory control to maintain a cost‑effective and well‑equipped laboratory.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
Experience Preferred: Six months of experience as a technical generalist.
Licensure / Certification / Registry / Listing Required: Must have Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Specialist in Blood Bank (SBB) or Technologist in Blood Banking (BB) or Technologist in Chemistry (C) or Technologist in Hematology (H) or Technologist in Microbiology (M) or Specialist in Microbiology (SM) by ASCP.
