Job Overview This role assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. The Rad Tech serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Responsibilities

Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy.

Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.

Explain procedures to patients and obtain their understanding.

Operate imaging equipment independently to complete procedures according to protocol, including placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast.

Review patient images before transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.

Complete timely quality control procedures and perform notification/remediation as warranted.

Assist in departmental operations such as inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Adapt communication and behavior to meet the specific needs of the patient population, respecting privacy and ensuring appropriate explanations.

Perform other related duties as required.

Education

Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.

Work Experience

None required.

Preferred Experience

Experience in radiologic technology.

Certifications

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or eligible for registration within 90 days of employment, with a temporary state license required.

Current unrestricted state license.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule (24/7, weekends, holidays, on call availability) and travel within and between facilities.

Physical and Environmental Demands Physical demands include occasional exertion of 50 to 100 pounds, frequent exertion of 25 to 50 pounds, and continuous exertion of 10 to 20 pounds to move objects. The role involves routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissues, as well as potential exposure to hazardous medications or waste.
