Job Summary
A linen associate is responsible for the systematic cleaning and maintenance of linens, garments, and other textiles. The expectation is to ensure all items are washed, well-pressed, and restocked so they are ready to rent.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Sorting & Preparation:
Count and verify returned orders. Separate soiled items by color, fabric type, and washing requirements.
Washing & Drying:
Operate commercial washers and dryers, selecting appropriate cycles and measuring cleaning agents like detergents and bleaches.
Stain Treatment:
Identify and treat stubborn stains using specialized chemicals, steam sprays, or hand‑scrubbing techniques.
Finishing:
Fold, press, or iron items to meet quality standards; hang garments or wrap linens for delivery.
Order Fulfillment:
Utilizing the pull/pick sheets, pull and prep items accordingly and stage them in the prepped area confirming items match what is required.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine cleaning of machines, such as emptying lint traps daily, and report any mechanical malfunctions to management.
Inventory & Logistics:
Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and keep records of laundry orders or inventory counts.
Duty Flexibility:
Must be able to learn and work in other departments within the organization.
Requirements Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, though many positions are entry-level with no formal education required.
Experience:
Prior experience in housekeeping or hospitality is preferred but not required, as on‑the‑job training will be provided.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long shifts (up to 8 hours), bend frequently, and lift/move heavy loads typically ranging from 20 to 50 pounds.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of fabric care, laundry chemicals, and the operation of industrial machinery.
