Job Details We are looking for a Scribe to join our growing team! The Scribe assists the doctor by transcribing appropriate data into the patient medical record during the patient exam in order to optimize the doctor’s time with patients. This position will also assist the technician by performing various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, and preparing the exam room. Previous experience is great but not required; we have an excellent training program.
Essential Responsibilities
During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.
Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
Escort the patient to the optician, introducing them and reiterating the doctor’s recommendations.
Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).
Supplementary Responsibilities
Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures.
Perform various vision and diagnostic tests.
Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR.
Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls.
Occasional travel to support other offices may be requested.
Physical Demands (per ADA Guidelines)
Stand for sustained periods, stoop, grasp, lift, talk, and hear.
Light work: lift up to 15 lbs from floor to waist, 5 lbs from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs from shoulder to overhead.
Requires visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
Qualifications Energetic personality and willingness to learn. Previous experience is not required; training will be provided.
