CDM Smith's CEI team in Columbia, Missouri seeks a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at the I‑70 Corridor. The inspector will perform the most complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories of construction inspection: roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance & traffic. Candidates work under limited or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge.

Responsibilities
Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate material usage and construction processes, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
Use higher grade equipment and perform complex calculations required for construction inspection.
Review drawings in preparation for construction inspection.
Understand design of the construction being inspected and document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
Work under limited supervision or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge for the specific assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
6 years of related experience in highway construction inspection.
Valid driver’s license.
Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete (if required by client or jurisdiction).
Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on project demands.
