Field Service Engineer – UPS & Critical Power
Location: Atlanta, GA (Home-Based)
The Opportunity
Are you a technical expert who thrives in mission-critical environments? We are seeking a UPS Field Service Engineer to join our team in Atlanta. In this role, you will be the frontline expert ensuring the reliability of power systems for essential infrastructure. From commissioning new installs to resolving emergency outages, you will provide the technical mastery and proactive service our clients depend on.
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning & Testing: Conduct design reviews, develop rigorous test procedures, and oversee on-site equipment startups.
- Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, field modifications, and emergency repairs on UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, and STSs.
- Operational Excellence: Develop detailed Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and provide high-quality Field Service Reports with proactive site recommendations.
- Client Consultation: Act as a trusted advisor to customers, coordinating with technical support to resolve complex operational challenges.
- Continuous Learning: Attend periodic advanced training at headquarters to master new testing equipment and system rebuild techniques.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: 3–5 years of hands-on experience (10+ years preferred) with UPS systems and power electronics.
- Manufacturer Proficiency: Required OEM factory training or deep experience with brands such as Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider/APC/MGE, or Eaton/Powerware.
- Critical Thinking: Exceptional troubleshooting skills using specialized test equipment and hand tools.
- Independence: A self-starter who can manage a home-based schedule and take initiative in the field.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for clear client reporting and internal collaboration.
- Physical & Logistics: Ability to lift 100 lbs, maintain a clean driving record, and work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and on-call rotation).
- Education: Technical degree (DeVry, Lincoln Tech, etc.) is a plus.
