The Role We are looking for a Technical Lead – Backend Engineering who combines strong coding ability with architectural thinking and execution leadership. This is a hands‑on role where you will design and build backend services, work with complex enterprise systems, and collaborate closely with client stakeholders to shape technical direction.
As a consulting partner, BeeHyv is recognized for its engineering excellence. In this role, you will represent BeeHyv’s technical expertise on the ground — acting as the face of our engineering capabilities. You’ll be expected to stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practices, and use that knowledge to deliver high‑quality solutions that our clients rely on.
The role involves working as an individual contributor while also identifying, structuring, and carving out work for an extended engineering team offshore. You’ll be responsible for managing the successful execution of this work and ensuring high‑quality delivery.
This role offers exposure to both modernization of existing systems and new product development, so flexibility and adaptability are key.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop robust backend services using Java and related frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud)
Contribute hands‑on to coding, reviews, and architectural decisions
Analyze existing enterprise applications to understand business logic and identify opportunities for re‑architecture or enhancement
Collaborate with client‑side product owners, architects, and stakeholders to define and deliver solutions
Act as the local technical representative of BeeHyv, demonstrating engineering excellence and guiding technology direction
Identify and structure work for the offshore engineering team in India, and manage its execution
Stay current with technology trends and apply relevant innovations to solve real‑world problems
Use AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and streamline development
Ensure cloud‑native implementations are secure, scalable, and maintainable (Azure, Kubernetes, etc.)
What We’re Looking For
6+ years of backend software engineering experience
Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8+; Java 21 exposure preferred)
Proven experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture
Good understanding of distributed systems, API design, and cloud deployments (Azure preferred)
Ability to work across both legacy systems and greenfield development
Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate onsite and offshore execution
A consulting mindset: proactive, articulate, and always representing technical best practices
Familiarity with financial or payment systems is a plus
Proficiency with AI‑assisted tools to accelerate development
