Job Summary On‑Call Expectations
Definition of the role:
This role requires very short notice adjustments to the working week and the primary duty is to cover key workers’ (Milieu Counselors) leave, vacation, and sickness by assuming their accountabilities.
Good communication is essential; on‑call employees must respond to work requests as outlined in this document.
Shift Expectations: On‑call M&C’s are expected to work 30 hours per month. If a temporary situation arises that might not allow you to work the 30 hours, you must communicate that situation to your supervisor and it must be documented and approved (e.g., you have a vacation planned and will not be available for the month of April, or a school project/FINAL exams in May and will only be available to work 1 shift).
Duties and Responsibilities
As an on‑call MC, you must be available to be contacted. On‑call MC’s must return calls within 1 hour of receiving a call/text/email or voicemail (on days for which you have confirmed availability). That does not mean you must be available to come in for a shift within 30 minutes, but it does mean you must respond to the supervisor reaching out.
On‑call MC’s are required to be accessible if it is necessary for you to be called in for a shift. If, during the on‑call period, unforeseen circumstances arise preventing you from being reached or from responding, you must notify your supervisor immediately. In that case, you would be removed from on‑call availability status for the remainder of that day.
Training Requirements:
CPR certification must be kept active (there are options for completing CPR on weekends or weekdays, depending on your schedule).
CPR & Mandt are in‑person trainings; medication shadowing must be completed in person; most other trainings can be completed virtually.
Trainings are not meant to replace shifts that you decline. However, if we do not have shifts available, trainings may be scheduled for you temporarily.
Availability:
As an on‑call MC you may change your availability by contacting your supervisor. This communication is expected to occur at least two weeks prior to a scheduled shift.
Experience / Education Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Basic computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and Outlook.
One year of youth experience. Or a combination of education and experience related to working with youth.
Preferred Qualifications
Bi‑lingual in Spanish and English, written, read, and verbal. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish.
Other Requirements
Pass a DHS criminal history background check.
Valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions Environment:
Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals may be interrupted. Universal Precautions and alertness to the environment are critical to address potential violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants.
Mental demands:
Work may be unpredictable and disrupt planned tasks, requiring flexible time management.
Physical demands:
Ability to remain calm and emotionally available when serving youth, adults, and families who have experienced trauma; proficiency with office equipment and physical movement; ability to perform physical interventions if needed in accordance with program and training; physical dexterity for reaching, stooping, and repetitive wrist and hand motions.
All Morrison programs and services are accredited by The Joint Commission, a nationally recognized standards‑setting and accreditation body for health care. Morrison is also certified as a trauma‑informed organization by the Sanctuary Institute.
Equal Employment Opportunity We are an affirmative action plan employer. Our policy is to provide equal employment opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic. In compliance with our affirmative action plan, Morrison uses E‑Verify to determine employment eligibility after an offer is accepted.
Applications will be reviewed as received. Morrison reserves the right to make a hiring decision at any point during the posting period.
Benefits Morrison employees are offered a variety of benefits including Medical, Vision, Dental, Flexible Spending Accounts, Employer‑Paid Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Long‑Term Disability, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
