The SBI does so by conducting criminal investigations of allegations in areas of jurisdiction including narcotics, arson, election laws, misuse of state property, environmental crimes, human trafficking, child sexual abuse in day care centers, and threats made against public officials. The SBI provides support to local agencies related to computer crime investigations, use of force investigations, deaths in custody, crime scenes, financial crimes, missing and endangered persons, public corruption, cold cases, K9, special response team, bomb squad, and air wing. The SBI serves as North Carolina's repository of information on criminal history records, fingerprint identification, expungements, sex offender registry, and concealed handgun permits. The SBI manages the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAAC), which is the fusion center for the state of North Carolina, as well as the Behavioral Threat Assessment Unit, which assesses and manages threats of mass violence.**Description of Work**The Regional School Safety Specialist is a non-sworn administrative position with the Center for Safer Schools (CFSS). The Center serves as a central resource for information and technical assistance on school safety, supporting faculty and staff, law enforcement, youth-serving community agencies, juvenile justice officials, policymakers, parents/guardians and students. CFSS Regional School Safety Specialists are subject matter experts dedicated to providing resources, technical assistance and training to public school units and their designated safety directors. They play a crucial role in supporting schools by ensuring compliance with North Carolina’s legislative mandates on school safety, including the development of School Risk Management Plans, tabletop exercises, safety protocols and more. To better serve schools across the state, specialists are strategically assigned to the eight designated regions of North Carolina, offering localized support and guidance tailored to each region’s unique needs. Job responsibilities include the following:
\*Provide public school units in their regions with technical assistance, training and resources needed in relations to school safety.
\*Assist public school units in identifying and implementing evidence-based programs in school safety.
\*Develop and maintain relationships that result in collaborative efforts and information sharing to promote the CFSS.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences****Salary Range:
$45,926 - $61,500****This position is assigned to the Northeast region which includes Northampton, Gates, Currituck, Camden, Elizabeth City/Pasquotank, Perquimans, Edenton-Chowan, Hertford, Halifax, Bertie, Martin, Washington, Tyrrell, Dare, Beaufort, Hyde, Pitt counties. This position requires extensive regional travel up to 75% of time, with some overnights.
