Security Officer - Armed - OMC - New Orleans
Provides security for patients, guests, and employees as assigned, enforces company policies and procedures, and performs duties to ensure the security of the facility in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities
Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
Conducts routine inspections of on‑site and off‑site locations of the company.
Investigates accidents and other incidents, reporting all occurrences in a timely manner.
Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration and performs other safety and security related duties as assigned.
Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, and communicating professionally.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year experience in security, law enforcement, or military.
Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; valid driver’s license in the state of practice and clean DMV report; Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) and firearms training; International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire; completion of the FTO program within the first 60 days of employment.
>Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval; proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to present information clearly and professionally.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Ability to continuously walk the company property, including outside areas and interior areas on an 11‑floor structure.
Must be considered Team A Essential Personnel and report for duty in the event of a disaster.
Physical and Environmental Demands The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Medium work requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly. The job involves walking, standing, pushing and pulling materials, and may involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, and communicable diseases. Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste may also occur.
