The Senior Executive – Publicity and Communications leads strategic communications for Student Development. This includes planning, organising, coordinating, and implementing activities that enhance visibility and prominence. The role also focuses on increasing student participation in key programmes and activities while strengthening social media presence. The role fosters student involvement in co‑curricular activities, particularly the SHINE Award Programme.

He/she will create and capture key events, achievements and milestones, promoting them through official communication channels to both internal and external stakeholders. Timely updates on initiatives will be ensured, and a media bank with post‑event materials will be maintained for easy access.

He/she will also spearhead the design of collaterals and items to raise awareness and visibility. Marketing and advertising campaigns will be developed to engage students and encourage participation through social media and other effective platforms. Regular analysis of communication strategies will be conducted, with key findings and recommendations provided to improve outreach efforts.

In an advisory capacity to various Student Organisations (SO), this role involves working closely with student leaders to enhance their leadership capabilities and ensure that their activities and programmes contribute meaningfully to the campus community. He/she will support students in executing their projects and advocate for the professional and personal development of all student leaders. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison between SO and the university administration, ensuring open communication and alignment of students and institutional priorities.

Key Result Areas / Responsibilities

Lead in planning, creating, and executing campaigns, outreach, and marketing for key Student Development functions and services.

Have comprehensive product and service knowledge of Student Development and can articulate these services creatively and convincingly.

Cover events and activities organised by Student Development and its sub‑departments to ensure coverage is immediate and updated on all social media and communication platforms within the Service Level Agreement.

Develop and implement an annual communication plan/strategy to drive publicity and promotional initiatives campus‑wide and externally.

Strategically map all communication activities according to the Publicity and Promotions matrix and event dates.

Create pre‑ and post‑event content capturing statistics, testimonials, milestones and noteworthy information for awareness via strategic channels.

Ensure post‑event release is up on all agreed platforms.

Develop a mechanism where internal and external stakeholders can view monthly activities.

Develop and execute campaigns, outreach, and marketing for the SHINE Award.

Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement a strategic communication plan for the SHINE Award programme.

Advocate, create and connect meaningful information through campaign activations, roadshows, and promotional activities to cultivate the programme.

Social Media Postings, Website & Communication Plan.

Manage day‑to‑day communications, including social media and e‑mail engagements within SLA.

Update and manage Taylor’s Website for the Centre for Future Learning & Student Development.

Proactively communicate important information to promote the programme to stakeholders.

Collaborate with Marketing, Alumni Relations and Corporate Communications to push news, update the media bank and ensure events reach relevant channels.

Collateral Design.

Design and create computer‑based, web‑based, multimedia graphics, animation, video, sound, and content for electronic media.

Design printed collaterals such as banners, buntings, posters, etc.

Develop layout design concepts and secure illustrative materials.

Ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with web publishing standards.

Proofread copy and maintain internal posting of policies, forms and related data.

Keep abreast of emerging media technologies and design programs.

Maintain brand consistency.

Administrative Function: Documentation & Reporting.

Generate and compile communication and publicity reports on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

Produce detailed analysis reports on strategies/social media insights with key findings and recommendations.

Develop the Student Development Annual Report with sub‑department statistics and milestones.

Publish all reports and post‑reports on available communication platforms.

Document write‑ups, testimonials and photos in a media bank for future collaterals/audit purposes.

Advisor to Student Organisations (SO).

Serve as official advisor, promote alignment with university regulations and foster development.

Guide planning, execution and evaluation of student‑led activities.

Assist with budgeting and governance.

Maintain accurate documentation of activities and budgets.

Offer mentorship and conflict resolution.

Ensure effective logistical planning and risk management.

Collaborate with other departments for cross‑functional support.

Act as liaison to University Administration.

Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.

Advocate for SHINE Award participation and documentation.

Others.

Maintain high customer service standards.

Undertake any other duties assigned by the Manager.

Job Specifications Minimum Academic/Professional Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, public relations, journalism, multimedia design, or a related field.

Related Experience:

At least seven (7) years of working experience, preferably in an educational institution or event management industry with communications, advertising, events management, organising and coordinating activities.
