Overview Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. The Labor and Delivery department at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is a 12‑bed unit with spacious labor, delivery, and recovery suites that contribute to a soothing, safe, and exceptional patient experience. Our unit includes a high‑tech central monitoring system, a four‑bed antepartum unit for undelivered patients, and a four‑bed triage/evaluation unit for mothers experiencing complications.

Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.

Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.

Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.

Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.

BJC has determined this is a safety‑sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
