Respiratory Therapist – PRN
Responsible for pulmonary care of critical, non‑critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities
Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders).
Emergency (Code Blue, White) response; airway management including nasotracheal & endotracheal suctioning; delivery of aerosolized drugs; ventilator management; oral hygiene; airway retaining device placement and maintenance; BiPAP/CPAP support; oxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoring; chest film analysis; blood gas collection and analysis; EKG analysis; accurate documentation; cleaning and stocking; participate in CAP and JC surveys.
RRTs may serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader.
Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management and monitoring (INO, HeO2); pulmonary function testing; bronchoscopy assist; hemodynamic monitoring; waveform analysis; nocturnal SpO2 evaluation; polysomnography; transport duties.
Qualifications Education and Credentials
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC and RT or RCP license in state of employment.
BLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certificates required.
Experience
Preferred 1‑3 years of respiratory therapy experience; advanced practice experience a plus.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Current ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required.
All Associates must obtain required certifications within designated time frame.
Work Schedule 7 AM – 7 PM; Per Diem As Needed.
