Job Description
Under direct supervision, cleans carpets, strips and waxes all hard floor surfaces, and performs other custodial duties as required. Takes appropriate and necessary precautions to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and other associates in accordance with standards set forth by the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies. Fulfillment of the job duties requires the employee to have access to medication storage areas.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Sweeps and mops assorted hard floor surfaces.
Strips and waxes different types of hard floor surfaces.
Finishes wood floors.
Cleans upholstery.
Performs custodial cleaning including cleaning of restrooms, offices, classrooms, labs, etc.
Performs extracting liquids from carpet.
Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Maintains knowledge and complies with all Joint Commission, OSHA, and other local, state, and federal government regulations.
Provides hospitable service and follows service recovery principles daily and consistently.
Must adhere to the policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and other HIPAA requirements.
Education and Experience
Two years experience in hard floor and carpet care.
One year custodial/housekeeping experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work in a team environment, and under time constraints.
Knowledge of stripping and waxing hard floor surfaces.
Ability to operate buffers, scrubbers, carpet extraction machines, etc.
Knowledge of hardwood floor screening and refinishing.
Knowledge of proper use, disposal, and safety practices when working with chemical cleaners and strippers.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form.
Ability to promote and facilitate a culture of service and operational excellence and to model these behaviors.
Ability to effectively use electronic equipment such as pagers, radios, and other items necessary to provide floor care services.
Ability to effectively and efficiently receive and follow written or oral instructions.
Ability to work independently.
Basic knowledge of infection control procedures and universal precautions.
