Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Role Overview
As the ADON, you'll work closely under the Director of Nursing to lead clinical nursing operations in a long-term and skilled care setting, ensuring high-quality care, staff supervision, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support & Supervision : Oversee daily operations across all nursing units, stepping in for the DON when needed for 24/7 coverage.
Staff Leadership : Mentor and lead registered nurses; assist with hiring, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and development.
Quality & Compliance : Enforce compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies; participate in quality assurance, safety initiatives, and infection control.
Policy & Procedure : Help create, update, and implement nursing policies; manage departmental budget and resource allocation.
Education & Training : Identify staff training needs, coordinate in-services, oversee competency, CEU reimbursement, and ongoing education.
Clinical Oversight : Conduct regular rounds, monitor resident care (e.g., pressure ulcers, catheters), and handle concerns or incidents.
Collaboration : Serve as liaison with other departments, regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and families.
Qualifications
Licensing & Education : Active RN license in VA required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience : Minimum 2+ years as an RN and at least 1 year in nursing supervision/management, ideally in long-term and skilled care.
Skills : Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and familiarity with clinical documentation and regulation compliance.
