About The Team: The Store team has the responsibility of growing sales while elevating the Grocery Outlet brand in a competitive retail atmosphere. We are a customer service driven environment that focuses on providing an engaging and welcoming shopping experience. About The Role: The Store Manager leads all aspects of a Grocery Outlet location. This role carries full accountability for business performance, operational consistency, team leadership, and customer experience. The manager shapes the store’s culture, drives profitable growth, and represents the brand within the local community.
Responsibilities Include: Business and Financial Leadership
The Store Manager acts as the primary business operator for the location, with responsibility for:
Full ownership of financial performance, including sales, labor, margin, and controllable expenses
Translating financial and operational data into clear action plans
Managing inventory accuracy, shrink performance, and product flow
Ensuring pricing accuracy and promotional execution
Adjusting staffing, merchandising, and operational priorities based on performance trends
Operational Excellence and Store Standards
The manager ensures the store operates safely, efficiently, and consistently every day by:
Upholding all company procedures, standards, and compliance expectations. This includes, but is not limited to ordering, receiving, pricing, ads and promotions, inventory/shrink best practices
Running high-quality store conditions, including cleanliness, merchandising, and seasonal transitions
Maintaining accurate receiving, backroom organization, and stock flow
Ensuring reliable coverage and leadership presence across all shifts
Quickly addressing issues that impact customers, employees, or operations
People Leadership and Talent Development
The manager builds a capable, motivated team by:
Recruiting and hiring talent that reflects the community and business needs
Setting clear expectations and coaching for growth
Ensuring consistent training, development, and performance management
Creating a safe, respectful, and accountable work environment
Developing future leaders and strengthening store management bench
Customer and Community Engagement
The manager ensures the store delivers a strong experience and maintains a meaningful local presence by:
Creating a consistent, welcoming customer environment across all departments
Responding to concerns and escalations with urgency and sound judgment
Leveraging customer feedback, surveys, and store insights to adjust service standards and identify improvement opportunities.
Building community relationships that reflect the company’s mission
Supporting corporate marketing while tailoring local efforts to store needs
Promoting store events, seasonal opportunities, and brand visibility
Strategic Growth and Market Positioning
The manager stays closely aligned to the local market by:
Monitoring local competitors for pricing, assortment, and service trends
Identifying opportunities to strengthen the store’s position with customers
Proactively sharing insights with buying and operations partners
Adjusting strategies to drive comp sales and customer loyalty
Compliance, Risk, and Safety Management
The manager maintains a safe environment for customers and employees by:
Ensuring OSHA, safety, and food-handling standards are consistently followed
Conducting and documenting incident investigations promptly
Training employees on safe equipment use and store-specific procedures
Maintaining compliance with all required regulations and company policies
About The Pay:
Annual Bonus Program

Final compensation will be determined based upon experience and skills and may vary based on location.
About You:
5–10 years of retail management experience. Grocery store management experience required
Proven skills in recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching
Capacity to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, financial statements, government regulations and legal documents
Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, managers, and any outside vendor
Demonstrate a strong understanding of current retail safety standards and OSHA guidelines. Ability to apply on-the-job safety training, to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises.
Knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: hand jack, hand truck, trash compactor, bailer, forklift, cutter, proper lifting techniques, proper scanning techniques
Experience or familiarity with store level financials, P&L management, budgeting, forecasting and labor management. Can calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and volume
Ability to create presentations, business plans, forecast budgets, and present information effectively to top management, public groups and/or suppliers
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Proficient at writing routine reports and correspondence
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Proficient in MS office properties (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
