Job Title : Facility Utilities Operator
Department : Maintenance
Reports to : Director of Continuous Improvement

Salary Range : $15.37 - $26.34/hour (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)

Job Summary The Facilities Utilities Operator plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and safety of BEDGEAR’s Rock Hill facility. Assist with maintaining and cleaning the building. This position is considered a hybrid position, which will share responsibilities between facility utilities, janitorial/housekeeping, and the company's recycling initiatives.
Essential Functions
Maintain the cleanliness of the facility's exterior weekly, including the truck and trailer area. Keep the area free of loose fiber, foam, and trash. Monitor and report trash compactor issues to management.
Assist the utility worker/janitor in deep cleaning the office, customer service, and showroom.
Assist in the collection, sorting, and processing of cardboard, plastics, foam, and other recyclable materials throughout the facility.
Support the manufacturing department by sorting and collecting small scrap foam for reuse in the manufacturing process.
Operate forklifts to move recyclable material bins, support small foam scrap collection, and transport items as required for internal reuse.
Respond to facility emergencies, including water spillage and flooding, safety issues, broken glass, and equipment fluid spillage.
Assist with facility-related projects to include but not limited to painting of office and restroom areas, safety lines, floor safety notifications, and facility columns.
Maintain clear communication with management and document tasks, issues, or maintenance outcomes via Limble, CMMS or other systems.
Assist in setting up and breaking down company events, including furniture movement and space preparation.
Perform monthly sectional cleaning of the facility's interior walls. Keeping them free of dust, cobwebs, and spider webs.
Operate the floor sweeping machine to maintain the cleanliness of the facility floors.
Maintain an open line of communication with management regarding the proper use of equipment and machinery.
Participate in annual training (LOTO, Machine Operator, miscellaneous equipment, etc.)
Assure only approved trash materials are placed in the compactor. Report issues to management.
Support the baling of material.
Must be able to continuously lift up to 50 lbs.
Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
HS Diploma or GED.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify.
English proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
Must be willing to work mandatory overtime when needed.
Must be willing and able to submit to pre-employment and random drug testing.
Must be able to pass all safety training tests.
Preferred Education/Qualifications
1-3 Years of previous maintenance experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of cleaning agents, recycling procedures, and workplace safety.
Must be willing to work occasional extended hours for facility events or urgent needs.
General mechanical aptitude.
Forklift operation experience is a plus.
Work Environment Manufacturing/Warehouse setting, large open area, exposure to heavy machinery and motorized vehicles, exposure to extreme temperatures, loud and fast‑paced environment, and occasional stressful situations. Limited climate control.
Physical Demands Must continuously lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to continuously lift up to 50 lbs. (Physical Demands: Lift 10–50 lbs. Light to Medium overhead, 100% of time, with heavy and very heavy intensity for physical demands). (Simplified: Ability to lift 10–50 lbs., Continuous lift 10–50 lbs.)
