Summary:

The Department of Theatre at East Texas A&M University is seeking faculty for a nine‑month Professional Track position in Scenic Design / Technical Direction / Theatre. The position will begin in Fall 2026. Faculty are expected to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community. Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Scenic Design / Technical Direction / Theatre.

Provide Technical Direction for productions.

Advise students.

Prepare syllabi and update course materials.

Develop curriculum.

Deliver instruction both online and on any university campus. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, evening, or Saturday.

Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs.

Provide service to the department, college, university, public schools, and community.

Maintain knowledge of current trends in learning, research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design. A minimum of 18 hours in Theatre from an accredited university is required.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Extensive experience in scenic design and technical direction, strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with a team, good written and oral communication skills, commitment to high‑quality teaching, dedication to high standards and student success, scholarly publication record or scholarly potential.

Ability to multi‑task and work well as part of a team.

Preferred Education / Skills / Experience:

A Master of Fine Arts (Scenic Design) or a Doctorate in Design. ABD candidates may be considered provided the degree is conferred on or before January 1 for Spring appointments or on or before August 1 for Fall appointments. University‑level teaching experience.

Professional scenic design experience.

Online teaching experience.

Supervision Of Others:

Will supervise student workers and practicum students during production hours, rehearsal hours, and class time.
