Are you passionate about using data to understand the health of consumers and small businesses?

As a Junior Economist, Senior Associate in the Consumer & Business Intelligence (CBI) Team, you’ll assist other economists in creating the analytical views and storytelling for Small Businesses and/or Consumer-related sectors through the lens of our internal data. CBI is a new organization that monitors, coordinates, and develops a holistic internal & external view of the financial well‑being of consumers and small businesses. As a member of a new team, your adaptability, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity, and creative problem‑solving skills will be key to your success. You will report to the Senior Economist with the following responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze key business segments (such as specific industries or luxury spenders) and near‑term deep dives (such as a spotlight on individuals disproportionately impacted by inflation)

Contribute to an analytical agenda, in partnership with broader team and analytics groups in other lines of business

Create automated analytical artifacts that monitor the health of key segments to the business

Contribute analytical views and talking points in support of investor relations and external affairs

Support research efforts related to the health of consumers and businesses across the JPMC organization

Contribute to the editorial calendar for Consumer and Business Intelligence

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; could include prior experience in consumer/business finance, economics, analytics, or other related field

Minimum 1 year of experience in economic research and/or economic analysis outside of an academic setting

Advanced analytical mindset; you love digging into the data and defining what it tells you

Excellent writing and communication skills; ability to effectively translate complex data into actionable insights and strategies for varied audiences; Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with all levels of employees, including executive audiences and across multiple stakeholder groups

Ability to quickly translate and communicate microeconomic and macroeconomic trends in consumer & business data

Foundational understanding of market economics & econometric modeling of fundamental economic relationships

Appreciation for and experience looking at data related to business finance, travel, dining, shopping, autos, and/or homes

Exceptional problem solving skills and ability to adjust to evolving business and financial climate
