Accounting Analyst

BioFire Defense is seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to support a wide range of accounting functions, with a focus on equipment tracking, warranties, royalties, and accruals. This position will also play a flexible role in supporting broader accounting and finance responsibilities, which may evolve over time based on department priorities and individual skillsets. This position will be full-time in the office, with flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment & Warranties - Maintain and track customer warranties under all agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of instruments, location, and status.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Support to ensure correct financial treatment of warranties.
  • Monitor revenue streams and support compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Royalties - Prepare and analyze royalty reports for accuracy.
  • Track incoming and outgoing royalty payments.
  • Interface with the legal department regarding royalties and patents.
  • General & Evolving Accounting Responsibilities - Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting processes and controls.
  • Participate in special projects or analyses as assigned.
  • Support other accounting functions (e.g., revenue recognition, expense tracking, inventory accounting, or financial reporting) based on skill level and department priorities.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience with degree, or 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in lieu of a degree.

Skills:

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations with minimal or no supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, queries, and data analysis.
