As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (Ophthalmic Surgery RN) at Maryland Eye Care Center, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care during specialized eye procedures. You will collaborate closely with ophthalmologists, anesthesiology providers, and surgical staff to ensure efficient and compassionate care throughout the surgical experience.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Preparing the operating room by ensuring all ophthalmic surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies are available, functional, and sterile.

Assisting with patient preparation, verification, positioning, and comfort prior to and during procedures.

Circulating during ophthalmic surgeries such as cataract, glaucoma, retinal, and other eye procedures.

Monitoring patient vital signs and clinical status throughout the procedure and promptly communicating changes to the surgical team.

Maintaining a sterile field and adhering strictly to infection prevention and safety protocols.

Anticipating surgeon and procedural needs to support smooth workflow and efficient case turnover.

Accurately documenting patient care, procedures, medications, and observations in accordance with facility policies.

Participating in quality improvement initiatives, safety programs, and continuing education activities.

Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, technicians, and fellow nursing staff.

Demonstrating proficiency with ophthalmic surgical equipment and technologies.

Job Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Maryland

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Operating Room or Surgical Nursing experience preferred

Ophthalmic or ambulatory surgery experience is a plus

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

ACLS certification preferred or required within a specified timeframe

Strong attention to detail, patient safety, and teamwork skills
