Nurse Practitioner / Physician Associate Job Description Job Overview

A primary care organization is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Associate (PA) to join a team-based, physician-led model of care. Position Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Associate will:

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate patient health and diagnose conditions

  • Order, interpret, and perform diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, imaging)

  • Develop, initiate, and adjust individualized treatment plans

  • Prescribe and dispense medications in accordance with state regulations

  • Accurately document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record

  • Collaborate regularly with supervising and partner physicians regarding care strategies

  • Educate and counsel patients and families about conditions, treatments, preventive care, and wellness behaviors

  • Initiate referrals or consultations with appropriate specialists or external providers

  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical guidelines, evidence-based practice, and emerging medical trends

  • Participate in or support clinical quality improvement and research-related initiatives

Qualifications
  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program

  • Active, unrestricted license to practice as an NP or PA in the state of Wisconsin

  • Appropriate national certification for specialty scope of practice

  • 2 4 years of clinical experience preferred

  • Compassionate, personable, and patient-focused demeanor

  • Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and clinical teams

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and confidence in independent clinical decision-making

  • Excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • High-level active listening skills and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations

Assignment Details
  • Projected start date: Late January (training included)

  • Contract length: Approximately 4 6 weeks plus training

  • Hours per week: (may vary based on need)

  • Typical weekly schedule:

    • Monday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

    • Tuesday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

    • Wednesday: 9:00 AM 6:00 PM

    • Thursday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

    • Friday: 6:00 AM 2:00 PM
