Overview:
This locum role offers inpatient pediatric and emergency department coverage at a Level II nursery and Level I nursery, with responsibilities including rounding on neonates and pediatric patients, stabilizing critical cases, and performing essential procedures. The position ensures continuous, high-quality care during scheduled shifts, including 24-hour call coverage with 8 hours dedicated to rounding. This engagement provides ongoing coverage from December 14, 2025, and extends into 2026, making it ideal for physicians seeking short- or long-term assignments.
Required Skills:
- Valid medical license in Oregon
- Board-certification or eligibility in Pediatrics
- Proven proficiency in neonatal and pediatric procedures: endotracheal intubations, neonatal resuscitation, lumbar punctures, umbilical line placement
- Ability to perform IVIG administration and neonatal stabilization
- Experience managing high-risk infants and pediatric patients
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to stabilize and transfer critical patients
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience working in Level II nursery settings
- Familiarity with Patient Keeper EMR system
- Experience with neonatal intensive care procedures
- Ability to teach or supervise residents and medical students
- Knowledge of local transfer resources and neonatology support systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO with current OR medical license
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric hospitalist experience
- Demonstrated competence in neonatal procedures and emergency care
- Previous locum or hospital-based pediatric practice preferred
Other Requirements:
- Availability for 24-hour call shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to work in a hospital setting without in-house pediatric ICU, with transfer support from PeaceHealth Eugene NICU
- Must have performed endotracheal intubations and lumbar punctures within the past 24 months
- No circumcisions required at this facility
- Ability to commit to ongoing coverage and adapt to schedule variations
- Travel from your current location to Roseburg, OR, with preferred lodging arrangements in hotels such as Hampton Inn; travel details to be coordinated upon offer acceptance
