Position Overview The County Caseworker is dedicated to protecting children and families from abuse and neglect. The role involves investigating allegations of abuse and neglect, collaborating with schools, mental health providers, and other partners, and providing ongoing support for children and families.
Responsibilities
Investigate allegations of abuse or neglect and conduct fact‑finding investigations.
Work with school partners to remediate truancy.
Collaborate with mental health providers to serve the needs of children and families.
Testify in court to support and protect children from suspected abuse or neglect.
Maintain face‑to‑face contact with children and families.
Count every year of employment toward Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment.
Work hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
Overtime may be possible.
No telework option.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; OR
A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
Applicants will be considered met the educational requirements within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
Other Requirements
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
You must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
