Production Tech I – G Shift (7:30 pm – 7:45 am – 2‑2‑3)

Position Summary This role is responsible for the upkeep of assigned machines and equipment. The Production Technician may also cover shift duties in absence of the Technical Leader by coordinating team activities in the assigned area, ensuring safe and efficient production of products that meet required specifications and quality standards. Communication with area management regarding maintenance, safety, and production process matters is also part of the role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist maintenance & engineering with projects and routine repairs.

Repair and maintain equipment in the assigned area.

Maintain sufficient inventories of supplies, tooling, etc.

Communicate safety discrepancies or issues to the Supervisor.

Communicate abnormalities with all Technical Leaders regarding daily checks, maintenance issues, and calibration status of equipment.

Input maintenance work orders and order supplies and materials through SolarSoft information system.

Perform lock‑out/tag‑out procedures when maintaining or cleaning equipment.

Assist Team Members and Technical Leader with daily activities.

Review internal emails and calendar system multiple times per shift.

Participate in PM, MMOL, and G5S activities as needed.

Follow all EMS procedures, including disposal of waste and used materials.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities and no direct reports.

Required And Preferred Qualifications Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED, plus 3‑6 months related experience and/or training.

Must successfully complete all required job training.

Required Language Skills

Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Write routine reports and correspondence.

Present information and respond to questions from managers.

Required Mathematical Skills

Add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Required Reasoning Ability

Resolve practical problems and manage varied variables in situations with limited standardization.

Interpret instructions via written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

Preferred Qualifications

Fork Lift License and Pallet Jack License.

Knowledge of Lotus Notes, MS Office, iSeries Access (AS400).

Physical Demands

Regular standing, hand use, reaching, talking, and hearing.

Frequent walking, occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching.

Vision 20/20 (natural or corrected).

Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds; use pallet jack for 400‑500 pounds.

Pass scheduled testing for vision, hearing, respirator fitting, spirometry.

Work Environment

Exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, outdoor weather, extreme heat, vibration.

Moderate to occasional loud noise level.

Safety Requirements / PPE

Safety shoes on NGK property.

Safety glasses or goggles as required.

Task‑appropriate gloves as required.

Respirators in designated areas or conditions.

Hearing protection in designated areas.

Regularly scheduled lung capacity (spirometry), vision, and hearing tests.
