Summary of Duties Responsible for limited medication administration tasks and providing residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s Medication Administration Record (MAR), assessment and plan of care and as directed.
Essential Job Functions
Perform limited medication administration tasks as delegated by a licensed nurse.
Provide nursing care to residents, including activities of daily living.
Compare the resident’s physician’s order with the MAR.
Verify that the order matches the MAR.
Verify that the order, MAR and medication pack match.
Document appropriately on the MAR/EMAR.
Keep resident rooms and caret areas clean and neat.
Participate in orientation of new residents to the facility.
Document care as instructed and required.
Report all changes in residents’ condition (e.g., redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status change, eating habits, etc.) to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
Check each resident routinely to ensure that personal care needs are met.
Assist in transporting residents to/from dining, therapy, activity and social programs as necessary; encourage participation.
Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., using facility technique.
Perform other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

Report all grievances and complaints voiced by residents or family to the nursing supervisor or charge nurse.
Report allegations of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation promptly.
Assure work area is maintained clean and safe, supplies are available.
Participate in staff development programs and meetings.
Create and maintain a warm, personalized, positive and calm environment.
Maintain policies, safety, environmental, and infection control procedures.
Report unsafe or hazardous conditions and defective equipment immediately.
Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to supervisor.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information and respect privacy and dignity.
Adhere to work assignments and schedules.
Maintain a neat appearance and dress code.
Comply with Corporate Compliance Program.
Education Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Must successfully complete a board‑approved Medication Assistant, Certified (MAC) education program and hold a Medication Assistant certification. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience Certified Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
Specific Requirements
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Must hold a Medication Assistant certification.
Must demonstrate basic computer skills within thirty days of employment.
Must read, write, and speak English.
Must make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
Must work harmoniously with other personnel.
Must relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
Must possess flexibility.
Must follow oral and written instructions.
