Location: Rockford, IL 61114
Duration: 3 Months
Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm, every other Saturday 8:00am-2:00pm
Job Description
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in for health routine or life‑defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples, prepares specimens for lab testing, and follows established practices and procedures. They maintain trust and confidence, explaining procedures and drawing specimens safely and accurately. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focuses on process excellence, and protects patient confidentiality. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center or other business needs.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
Maintain a safe and professional environment.
Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
Verify patient demographic information and patient signature post‑venipuncture to ensure tubes are correctly labeled.
Maintain required records and documentation.
Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public.
Job Requirements
Provide quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collection.
Flexible and available based on staffing needs (weekends, holidays, on‑call, overtime).
Committed to all policies & procedures, dress code, health & safety, and company guiding principles.
Make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if applicable.
Travel and flexible hours required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
Handle multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting.
Demonstrate superior customer focus, clear communication, ability to accelerate and embrace change, and knowledge of the business.
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
1‑3 years of phlebotomy experience (pediatric, geriatric, capillary) required.
2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
Customer service in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
Keyboard/data entry experience.
