Job Title: Head Start/Early Head Start Substitute
JCEO is a private, not-for-profit human service agency serving Clinton and Franklin Counties. All programs are based on JCEO's mission to alleviate poverty through practical, timely, and innovative services.
Part-Time, As-Needed, Non-Exempt
| Hourly Rate: $16.25
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sign and review the Substitute Handbook; acquaint oneself with the specific site details and children in attendance.
Adhere to written guidelines or instructions left by the regular staff or management.
Implement lesson plans and engage in daily programming under the guidance of the teacher or assistant teacher.
Collaborate on all program activities and assist with curriculum planning.
Evaluate child performance in partnership with the teaching staff.
Aid in executing the center's daily routines.
Supervise children and oversee center activities alongside regular teaching staff.
Maintain confidentiality in line with agency policies.
Prepare and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the center.
Provide individual or small-group support to reinforce developmentally appropriate learning concepts.
Attend mandatory training sessions.
Ensure compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Daycare Licensing Regulations, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies.
Perform duties consistent with the mission and goals of JCEO.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in early childhood education is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to upholding the highest standards of education and care for students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Substitute for Teacher – Must have an AAS or BS/BA in Early Childhood Education or related field with 24 credit hours equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education and experience teaching pre‑school age children.
Substitute for Assistant Teacher – Must have a high school diploma or GED.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands and arms, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposed to outside weather conditions, working in close proximity to moving vehicles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level usually loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
