Adjunct faculty play a key instructional role in delivering high-quality, mission-aligned coursework to students around the world through Ribaat University’s online learning platform. Adjunct faculty teach one or more courses per term, ensuring that course delivery reflects academic rigor, student engagement, and spiritual integrity. This position is ideal for scholar-educators who are passionate about student learning, grounded in their disciplinary expertise, and eager to contribute to Ribaat’s vision of faith-centered higher education. Key Responsibilities 1. Teaching and Instruction Teach assigned courses according to approved syllabi, outcomes, and assessment frameworks Deliver engaging, student-centered online instruction using the university’s learning management system (Canvas) Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments Maintain online office hours and regular communication with students 2. Course Design and Assessment Update and adapt course materials as needed in alignment with university standards Ensure learning outcomes, activities, and assessments meet program and accreditation requirements Submit grades, assessment data, and attendance records on schedule 3. Professional Collaboration Participate in departmental meetings and faculty training as requested Collaborate with program leads to ensure coherence across courses and alignment with the educational philosophy of Ribaat University Model professionalism, courtesy, and adab (etiquette) in all student and faculty interactions 4. Accreditation and Review Design courses that meet accreditation standards and state licensing requirements, ensuring measurable learning outcomes and rigorous academic quality Collaborate with university leadership to ensure departmental compliance with academic and institutional standards while upholding the university’s faith-based mission Topic Areas Adjunct opportunities are available in the following subject areas, among others: Arabic Language, Literature, and Linguistics: Language courses: from novice to advanced proficiency levels; grammar intensives; oral and written communication, regional dialects Literature courses: Arabic literature from pre-Islamic to modern periods; Media, culture in the Arabic speaking world. Linguistics courses: Linguistics and theories of language acquisition; translation. Applied Pedagogy and Innovative Learning: Foundations of education; inclusive teaching; classroom management; curriculum and program design; teaching methodologies for children and adults; instructional design; educational psychology; and leadership in educational institutions etc. Business, Organizational Leadership and Development: Nonprofit and business management Finance and quantitative literacy; fundraising and sustainability Human resources; strategic planning; hospitality and community engagement Branding and organizational culture The business of publishing Leading an educational institution Islamic Teachings and Traditions: Specialists in the various fields of Islamic studies: ḥadīth and prophetic traditions; fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh; ʿaqīda and theology; sīra and early Islamic history; tazkiya (spiritual purification); comparative fiqh; major Muslim scholars; and contemporary issues in Islamic thought Writing and Publishing: Rhetoric and public speaking Digital and technical communication The art of the book and the business of publishing Introduction to psychology Islamic psychology and spirituality Theories of personality and lifespan development; family systems; trauma and healing; social psychology; and counseling and helping skills History and Future Studies Islamic history, world history and futures thinking Women’s intellectual and cultural contributions Global Muslim civilizations Science: women’s health Religion and society; and the evolution of knowledge Art and culture across time The study of music And others Qualifications Required Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field from an accredited institution Demonstrated expertise in subject area(s) taught Prior experience teaching at the college or university level Commitment to Ribaat University’s mission, values, and faith-based educational approach Excellent communication and online teaching skills Preferred Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ThD, or equivalent) Arabic (for relevant courses) Familiarity with Canvas LMS and online engagement tools Knowledge and Skills Mastery of subject matter within the assigned teaching area. Strong understanding of effective pedagogy and online instructional methods. Ability to connect course content to broader intellectual, cultural, and ethical frameworks. Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and digital teaching tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to academic rigor, reflective teaching, and student-centered learning. Cultural and global awareness, with sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and perspectives.
