Cook Program and Location:
Head Start, McCook Position Summary:
The Cook
prepares homemade meals
for children and is responsible for maintaining food production records. Responsibilities:
Prepare homemade meals and snacks
with special nutrition accommodations for children with food allergies.
Maintain kitchen supplies.
Maintain kitchen budget.
Maintain food production records and acceptable substitution records.
Clean and sanitize
kitchen and kitchen equipment.
Tasks and Duties:
Prepare meals utilizing menus approved by the Registered Dietician.
Prepare homemade breakfast, snacks and /or lunch.
Manage grocery items purchase.
Attend trainings and keep current on safety, nutrition and sanitation practices.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills:
Basic nutritional knowledge, Kitchen work and food prep
Experience in menu planning including quantity, quality and variety of food.
Promote good nutrition habits among children and families.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public as well as other agency employees
Model appropriate/professional behavior
Schedule/Hours:
35 hours a week, during the school year. Monday through Friday (typically between 7:30 am to 1:30 pm) - position is part year. Pay:
Entry level pay rate is
$16.00 per hour . Benefits:
