Position Overview

In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, MobilizeGreen is launching the 2026 Virtual Youth Conservation Program (YCP) – a national, outcomes-driven initiative engaging youth in high-impact educational and skills-based programming. The program integrates environmental education, professional development, service projects, and self-care, while building clear pathways into conservation and green careers. MobilizeGreen’s YCP introduces youth across the country to conservation careers and public lands stewardship, with a strong emphasis on structure, follow-through, and leadership development.
Crew Leaders play a central leadership role in the success of the Virtual YCP. This position is ideal for candidates who are highly organized, proactive, and comfortable owning program delivery, guiding teams, and maintaining high standards in a virtual environment. Crew Leaders are responsible for curriculum implementation and delivery, leading virtual crews, facilitating structured projects and discussions, mentoring youth in small groups, and serving as a consistent point of accountability for program execution.
Work Environment & Location 100% virtual.
Program Dates (Tentative): Monday–Friday commitment required.
Training & Cohort Schedule
Mandatory Training: June 8 – June 19, 2026
Cohort 1: June 22 – July 10, 2026
Cohort 2: July 13 – July 31, 2026
Benefits

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a virtual crew in collaboration with fellow Crew Leaders, ensuring consistent participation, engagement, and progress
Implement structured, interactive environmental curriculum and project-based learning experiences
Facilitate sessions covering environmental issues (wildfire management, ecology, sustainability), conservation careers, public lands, outdoor recreation, and professional development (resume building, interviewing, leadership skills, college readiness)
Proactively coordinate meeting times within program hours to mentor youth on individual and small-group projects
Maintain clear, timely communication with Program Coordinators, Program Assistants, and partner organizations
Coordinate and host sessions with external partners, speakers, and panelists
Organize, track, and store program materials digitally following established systems and deadlines
Model professionalism, punctuality, and accountability for youth participants
Support continuous program improvement by identifying challenges and proposing solutions
Complete additional duties as assigned in support of program success
Experience & Qualifications
At least 2 years out of high school
Must be 21 years or older
Entry-level role suitable for candidates who have completed or are currently pursuing relevant education or training
2–3 seasons of experience leading youth in formal or informal educational, camp, or team-based settings
Demonstrated experience in environmental education and/or outdoor leadership
Strong comfort working in virtual, structured environments, including Zoom, Discord, WebEx, Google Workspace, and Google Classroom
Highly organized, self-directed, and reliable; able to manage schedules, follow through on commitments, and meet deadlines
Confident facilitator with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed team
Commitment to expanding youth access to outdoor learning and conservation pathways
Experience developing or adapting educational materials preferred
Experience in a formal teaching or instructional setting preferred
