About the Position
MCS is hiring for an
Audio Visual Technician
in
Tampa, FL . This is a full‑time, permanent position with benefits.
The
Audio Visual Technician
must demonstrate experience with A/V, Data, Voice, Networking, and Fiber cabling. The position requires good communication skills, teamwork, and staying up‑to‑date on industry trends, government regulations, and technological developments.
Typical Duties
Terminating, testing, soldering, and dressing all low‑voltage cabling.
Reading and interpreting blueprints.
Using scissor lifts / boom lifts.
Traveling to project and user locations around the greater Tampa Bay Area.
Working flexible hours including nights and/or weekends.
Installing and setting up media equipment such as LCD projectors, speakers, TVs, video monitors, and cameras.
Completing electrical wiring, programming, and basic construction.
Setting up additional AV tools like equipment racks.
Requirements Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Certification Requirements
Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
OSHA 10/30, CTS, Creston, AMX, or Extron certifications desired
Experience Requirements
2 years of low‑voltage or control systems experience preferred.
2 years of experience installing AV/VTC equipment.
Ability to terminate cabling.
Ability to gain access to DOD/Government facilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
Ability to travel to project sites outside of the Tampa Bay Area.

Fundamental Functions and Work Environment

Schedule
Regular attendance following an established work schedule is mandatory.
Ability to work any shift/designated hours required.
Potential continuation during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted.
Night and weekend work and possible travel to varying field conditions.
Physical Requirements
Climbing ladders, working at heights, and in small confined spaces.
Sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching for extended durations; operating in noisy environments with temperature extremes; lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds.
Sitting at a desk, phone use, PC/laptop; lifting boxes of supplies; extended periods of sitting.
Equipment and Machines
General office equipment: PCs/laptops, telephones, copiers, servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment.
General field equipment: hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial/motorized lifts, test equipment.
Motor vehicle operation may be required; valid driver’s license and clean driving record necessary.
Travel
Travel requirements will vary; not all positions require travel.
A current passport is required for overseas travel.
Other Essential Functions
Employment contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses for the duration of the project or contract.
