WAKEMAN BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Part-time adult and minor employees in these positions are responsible for assisting in organization, supervision and implementation of the After School Program and Out of School Program for elementary or middle school-aged youth in accordance with safety standards set forth by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. This role will not exceed 29.5 hours per week. This role reports directly to the After School Program (ASP) Coordinator.
Schedule
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
KEY ROLES (Role-Specific Essential Duties) After School Care
Supervise assigned spaces in accordance with Wakeman Boys & Girls Club's safety protocols
Participate in the selection of age-appropriate games
Conduct low and high energy games for youth
Referee/score keep games and/or friendly competitions
Promote positive friendships, learning, fun and exploration of STEM, arts, and physical activities
GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Implement Wakeman Boys & Girls Club's Safety Guidelines and best practice protocols.
Manage group of 10-20 youth focused on various remote learning assignments.
Ensure a clean, healthy, safe, positive environment is created and maintained. producing a sense of physical and emotional safety.
Assume other duties as assigned by supervisor.
RELATIONSHIPS Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain, or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel members. External:
Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member's parents and other to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Minimum 18 years old (Adult Staff)
Minimum 16 years old (Minor Staff)
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
Proficient understanding of Microsoft and Google programs, including Google Classroom
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure while maintaining a positive demeaner with youth
Ability to pass a background check
Organized, reliable, hard-working, strong moral values
Ability to work in an environment with youth
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Please evaluate and describe any physical skills, abilities or working conditions that are required to perform the essential duties of this position, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Noisy environments.
Running or light exercise.
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Compensation is commensurate with age & experience.
