Job Overview
The Real Estate Services Department (RESD) is seeking a highly skilled Real Property Agent III to perform and manage complex appraisals of all property types for County operations. The role supports real property acquisitions, eminent domain proceedings, surplus property disposition, and asset management. Key Responsibilities
Confers with requesting Departments to prioritize and define valuation problems Consults with project engineers to minimize property valuation costs Recommends and implements policies and procedures for appraisals, appraisal reviews, and non-appraisal valuations Reviews and approves appraisals of real property prepared by staff and independent appraisers Prepares Requests for Proposals and coordinates the engagement of independent contractors for professional services Delegates assignments and assumes lead duties Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $77,979.20 – $107,473.60 annually (depends on qualifications).
3% annual across‑board salary increase in February 2026
and bi‑annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14. Four (4) years of full‑time equivalent experience in commercial real estate appraisal, including cost, income, and sales comparison approaches. Valid Certified General Appraisal License issued by the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers. Desired Qualifications
Preferred credentials include Right of Way – Appraisal Certification (R/W‑AC), Senior Right of Way (SR/WA) designation, MAI Designation, and a Bachelor’s degree in real estate, economics, public or business administration. Selection Process
