What You’ll Do As a Dishwasher/Utility Worker at Friends Homes, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment for residents, staff, and guests. Your attention to detail and efficiency will help ensure that food service runs smoothly and safely each day.
Key Responsibilities Dishwashing & Sanitation
Clean and sanitize trays, silverware, dishes, and utensils using commercial-grade dishwashing equipment
Maintain proper loading, unloading, and cleaning of dish machines, including filters and spray arms
Clean and sanitize pots, pans, and kitchen tools to ensure a continuous supply for food prep
Maintain proper water and detergent levels; report equipment issues as needed
Ensure all washed items are air dried and properly stored
Food Service & Support
Assist with food service line setup and breakdown as needed
Deliver food carts to assisted living and healthcare units; return soiled dishes promptly
May deliver meals directly to resident apartments when required
Assist with setting up and cleaning for special events
Help stock kitchen areas and take inventory as assigned
Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen and dish areas
Sweep, mop, and hose down kitchen floors to ensure a safe environment
Empty trash, clean garbage cans, and assist in general sanitation
Team & Resident Support
Participate in cultural change initiatives that enhance resident quality of life (e.g., pets, plants, intergenerational activities)
Work collaboratively with dining and nursing staff to ensure resident needs are met
Requirements Required:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift frequently throughout the shift
Ability to follow safety protocols and proper food sanitation procedures
Commitment to guest service and teamwork
Ability to read and follow written/verbal instructions in English
If under 18, must have a valid work permit; non‑residents must have legal documentation to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Prior experience in food service or dishwashing
Willingness to cross‑train and assist in other areas of dining services as needed
