A Day in the Life
Environmental Services is front line infection prevention responsible for performing servicesin accordance withestablished organizational policies and procedures for providing a safe environment, achieved bydemonstratingthe principles of cleaning,disinfectionand quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff. This position will be trained toindependently and competently performgeneral cleans, and dismissal cleans. Standing and walking much of the day. May require bending, stretching, climbing ladders, lifting, pullingand pushing. Gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat must be worn as situationwarrantsand defined in the Safety Standard Act. Must follow all department,hospitaland regulatory agency guidelines. Disinfect/clean assigned areas as per the Environmental Services procedures developed to control the growth of microorganisms. Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by staging the room in an aesthetically pleasing way. Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies and equipment evidence by properly stocking and restocking environmental servicescartin a neat and orderly fashion. Remove trash/recycling/Confidential (HIPPIA) information andsoiledlinen from floors usingutilitycart. Replacesharps containerin patient rooms, procedure rooms, and soiled utility rooms. Transport furniture, equipment, cleanlinenand supplies. Demonstrates the ability tooperateand properlymaintainall EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment. Qualifications
